hi Carl P,  I found that the upgrade version 6.0 allows formatting of SD cards as internal memory, but for some reason it would not work on the K8.  We tried another new handset and SD card but still no joy, so I ended up with a Motorola android phone, which did allow this magical formatting trick!

I think what he meant by that is that you can store more files on your phone by saving those to SD card. I'm not sure if you can move apps, but try my answer above.

I was told when upgrading to this phone that the internal memory could be expanded by adding an SD card, up to 32GB.  I have since spoken to the shop (Tesco) who think you should be able to format the card to "Internal Memory".  So far this has not happened!  Any other experience with this?

If you meant to ask if you can move apps to SD card, try going to Settings > Apps > Downloaded, check each app under Downloaded if they have the option "move to SD card".
