Why does music stop on the Samsung Galaxy S7?

Phone is 8 weeks old purchased at Verizon store. I listen to my music a lot and with this phone it pauses often, sometimes up to 3 times per song. I have been back to Verizon 3 times they cannot seem to find the problem. I have tried many settings I have read about on forums, with no luck.

The problem occurs :  playing  my Google Play  purchased music and listening to Pandora. It happens with headphone jack or Bluetooth connection.  Happens with music downloaded to phone while in airplane mode.

I inadvertently noticed it happens less frequently while also using phone for navigation. I then experimented with setting the stopwatch so the screen stays on , the music does not often pause with the screen always on. May pause once every 5 songs or so, still annoying but better. Of course I do not want my screen always on though for battery drain and I'm sure this is not the phones intended function anyway.

I am not sure if this a setting issue or a warranty issue.

YouTube music videos play uninterrupted as does my 'rock my run' music app.

The confusing parts are problems with downloaded as well as streaming .. using in airplane mode as well as data mode... and accross 2 separate apps Google Play as well as Pandora , but other streaming  apps not affected.

I had the Galaxy s3 at first then I got the galaxy s6 about 2 years after and had no issues with it until sometime in 2015 when a new update came through my s6 and I updated it not thinking that something was going to happen; I was wrong. Any type of media I play Samsung music, YouTube, sound cloud, Netflix etc. it would play but then randomly stop and then I have to press play. Its like almost the phone has fingers! I've done everything known to man; reboot the phone over, clear cache, wiped out the phone completely and download the apps again but it still give me the same issue. I've used my Wi-Fi at work and at home and not my T-Mobile Wi-Fi and it does the same thing! At this point I'm starting to thing that Samsung is tampering with the Galaxy just like the IPhones and I'm really hoping that not it cause I do not like IPhones at all.  I really need a solution badly cause this has been going on for way too long and its frustrating.

Thanks for your response, Carl.  Unfortunately, that's not the issue.  Whether I'm listening via headphones, bluetooth, or thru the phone's speaker, the problem still persists.  Playback pauses and doesn't restart until I open the app and press "play" to resume.

I'm experiencing the same problem.  It pauses no matter what app I'm using:  Audible, PowerAmp, Samsung Musicplayer.

Hi Mark. I used to experience this on my phone (not a Samsung Galaxy S7). Later I found out it was because of my damaged earphones. I tried using a different one and songs never stopped again. I suggest that you try using a different earphone.
