I have my contacts saved with my Google account. So when I get a new phone all I have to do is use my Google account and my contacts should sync to my new phone.

As for photos and videos I have them synchronized with Google Photos. I can simply install Google Photos to my new phone to access my media files.

With text messages I use SMS Backup & Restore (link). I perform a backup and send backup to my new phone where I have also installed the app. Do restore and your text messages should appear like it did on your old phone.
