How is the QWERTY virtual keyboard on the Motorola Moto G4 Play?

In comparison to the SAMSUMG Galaxy J3

Hi again dpi!

I understand your concern. As far as my experience goes, most (if not all) "virtual keyboards" can be rotated that you can it in landscape mode. If subscreen (or sections) you meant how many rows most keyboards have, most have 5 rows; 4 rows for the different keyboard keys and the top one for text predictions. With Motorola Moto G4 Play, it's the same. It all comes down to the keyboard of your choice.

On Smartphones like Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) and Motorola Moto G4 Play, you can install different keyboard apps to fit your needs. Some of which are the Google Keyboard and Swype.

And by the way, you can make the phone vibrate with each press on the keyboard to give it a physical keyboard-like feel.

Carl,

         Thanks for your response.

Many would call me - very "old school" - as, the only (cell) phone that I have used is the SAMSUNG Intensity (SCH-u450) with a physical full-slide out (landscape mode) QWERTY keyboard, with Koodo, as my cell phone provider.

However, at the end of this month, Koodo is shutting down its CDMA network, and my current phone only works on the CDMA network. (Finding an "affordable" phone
with a physical QWERTY is daunting.)

So the above two phones in my header were suggested as having "OK", "virtual" keyboards. I know that the SAMSUNG Galaxy J3 (2016) keyboard will rotate, so I can use it "landscape" mode, but the keyboard is in three sub-screen (or sections). I don't know anything about the MOTOROLO Moto G4 Play, regarding its "virtual" keyboard (can it rotate to "landscape" mode (thus making the keys a bit bigger),  etc.

(As to your comment regarding SWYPE, I don't know what that means?)

       Best Regards, dpi

I haven't tried both phones. The keyboard will depend on what you are used to using. In my experience, I use Swype on all the Android phones I use.
