Vodafone N9 keeps crashing and dialling police
When I'm on WhatsApp and I'm not using the head phones my N9 switches on and off, and turns on emergency mode, it's done this twice now, leaving me to explain to my family that I'm ok, and the 999 operator

Hi Matthew. Have you tried factory resetting your phone? Open Settings -> Reset options -> Erase all data (factory reset). Keep in mind that doing this will delete all the contents on your phone. Also, do you notice any random touches on the screen or do you have an app for emergency purposes?
