Informr score
The Huawei Honor 6X currently has an Informr score of 7.6 out of 10. This score is based on our evaluation of 35 sources including reviews from users and the web's most trusted critics.

What's good

  • All-day battery life
  • Quality design
  • Good camera
  • Fingerprint scanner
  • NFC support
  • Dual SIM or microSD support
  • Great performance

What's bad

  • Mediocre low-light camera performance
  • Older Android version (6.0 Marshmallow)

Announced at CES 2017, the Huawai’s Honor 6X promised to bring dual-camera features and premium design to a budget-friendly price point. The spec list is impressive. But, specifications don’t always translate to a good experience.

Reviewers are weighing in on the phone and we’ve compiled what everyone is saying so you don’t have to jump between sites!

Let’s get started!

The mostly metal design received high marks from reviewers on both visual appeal and comfort. Digital Trends notes, “Overall, the design is very simple and sophisticated. It looks and feels nearly as high-end as any iPhone.” Though the phone is one the larger end of the scale, reviewers mentioned easy one-handed use. They also noted that the fingerprint scanner was natural to reach.

Head around to the front and reviews stay positive. Recombu chimed in on the 5.5-inch 1080p LCD screen, saying, “The screen itself offers pleasing visuals, with soft, natural looking colours, respectable viewing angles and decent contrast management.” Some reviewers noted issues with fingerprints thanks to the glass treatment. If smudges bother you, consider a screen protector.

Huawei's own 2.1GHz Kirin octa-core 655 processor keeps performance peppy. Depending on your region, the phone includes either 3 or 4GB of RAM. Reviews for both variants were outstanding. Tom’s Guide says, “Unless you're a real power user, the 6X feels just as snappy as phones costing hundreds more.”

As with other Huawei phones, the Honor 6X runs their EMUI skin on top of Android. While the phone ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, they’ve promised an over-the-air update to Nougat soon. If you’ve read our other summaries, you know reviewers often love or hate EMUI.

While there’s still no app drawer, this latest version is pleasing more reviewers. Expert Reviews UK says, “Honor's EMUI is nowhere near as bad as it used to be.” Digital Trends supports this, saying, “Unless you’re an Android purist, you’ll be completely fine with Emotion UI.”

Regional variations offer either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage--more than enough for most users. Should you need more space, microSD support allows expansion up to 256GB. However, using a microSD card means you can’t take advantage of dual SIMs.

One of the most touted features of the phone is it’s 12MP dual rear cameras. Reviews show that they’re worthy of the hype. Mentions of bokeh and depth of field were everywhere. Android Pit summed up opinions well, saying, “Daytime shooting with good lighting produced crisp results. In lower lighting conditions or at night, you need to keep the phone especially still in order to prevent blur or photo noise.” The 8MP front-facing lens was equally well received.

Battery life was no slouch either. The 3340mAh battery kept most reviewers going well past the first day. With the included charger, you can top off from empty in only 2 hours.

Overall, reviewers loved the Honor 6X. Expert Reviews UK declared, “Honor has created a fantastically capable budget smartphone in the 6X at a very tempting price, and it’s impossible not to recommend it.”

The Honor 6X is yet another dependable option to consider, just like its predecessor. However, it doesn't really offer any standout feature that would make you want to rush out and buy it. Pricing starts at Rs. 12,999 for the version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which isn't bad considering t...

Despite the shiny exterior and dual cameras, the Honor 6X is low-to-mid-range smartphone through and through. The truth is, while the idea of a second camera sensor on a budget-friendly phone is a spirited one, having two below-average sensors is just as disappointing as having one. And althoug...
