What the Critics Are Saying...

The Verge

I'm not sure why anyone would opt for the BlackBerry Motion. It lacks BlackBerry’s defining characteristic and is outclassed by the many other Android phones available in its price range

- Dan Seifert, The Verge
Tom's Guide

BlackBerry's latest Android smartphone opts for a bigger screen instead of a physical keyboard, but brings the same focus on productivity and security.

- Adam Ismail, Tom's Guide
Mobile Syrup

BlackBerry 10 never truly panned out, but it’s nice knowing that BlackBerry — in some form or iteration — has finally succeeded at putting out a meaningful smartphone.

- Sameer Chhabra, Mobile Syrup
GSMArena

This is a respectable phone with decent specs, a reliable software experience with regular security updates, and a reputable name in smartphones with a Chinese phone maker backing it up.

- GSMArena
Expert Reviews

It’s very much a me-too device and doesn’t excel in any one particular area. Sure its design is a bit different and it has a few handy software features but none of these things is enough to justify the phone’s mind-numbingly middling performance and camera.

BlackBerry reinvents itself and pairs its competence in terms of data security with a modern operating system. However, there are smartphones out there with better cameras and CPU’s, and a similar price tag.

IT Pro

A functional, no-frills phone with little to entice

While it may have a wallet-friendly price and a respectable battery life on its side, there's not much else to recommend the BlackBerry Motion. It's functional, but it isn't particularly impressive.

Not so much a big step forward for the BlackBerry line

If you really value the BlackBerry software add-ons, and place battery life up on a pedestal, the Motion can still make a lot of sense. Just maybe give the rest of the mid-range market a look, too.

It's all about the battery life

from Engadget

The BlackBerry Motion is a strong follow-up to a phone I liked more than I expected to, and in general, it gets more right than wrong. Unless you're absolutely obsessed with security or want to pay to keep your beloved phone brand alive, the BlackBerry Motion is ultimately a good phone that doubles as a bad deal.
