The "1-Minute" Review

A no-frills flip phone for the traditionalist that focuses on value over high performance, and has a very slim profile when closed. In most ways, LG's 4010 is a classic business model, except that it has no provision for e-mail. If games and themes are your thing, or you use a mobile to check your e-mail, this is probably not the phone for you. On the other hand, if you want a handset that fits neatly in your pocket, and performs decently, you've found a good match.

The 4010 has a large grayscale display that provides crisp graphics but no color, and its Web browsing capability is perfectly adequate. Transferring data from a 4010 to a laptop or desktop computer is supported. The phone features a single installed game, Blackjack, but no provision for downloading new games. Just about the only luxury featured is the capability to download polyphonic ringtones, and hear them in high-quality 40-chord audio. In keeping with its niche, the handset's appearance is sleek and corporate, with sharp angles and a silver finish.

Display was weak at best. `Ran the contract out and went to highly rated Samsungs. No problems in last two months. Great phones!!

No Problems at all - 2 Years

I received 2 of the 4010''s for myself and my wife 2 years ago (January 2004). We got the phones at no-charge, plus received a $50 rebate on each. We have had absolutely no problems what-so-ever! In fact, many of my associates who have the latest generation of Nextel''s use my phone since they have less reception and their battery''s are always dead. This little LG has unbelievable reception, which could be to the credit of Cingular. The battery lasts a minimum of 2 days on 1 charge, depending on talk time. I use this phone for business and make 5 or more calls a day. After 2 solid years, I can honestly say, I would definately buy one if I had to again. With the internal memory and Sims card, you can store up to 200 names and 600 numbers. I currently have over 300 client names and numbers stored, which is one of the most important features to me. No, it dosen''t have a camera or all the bells and whistles, but the text messaging system, voice mail, internal clock and organizer w/alarm work extremely well. If I had to ask for 1 improvement, it would be to make the voice a little louder. Other than that I would not change a thing. Again, this is 2 phones, 2 years of hard use (I drop it on the pavement at least once/twice a month) without a hitch. Even the battery shows no sign of loosing its strength over the years. Less

A mix of Emotions

This phone never really worked 100% since I have had it. I had the dropped calls problem, that Rogers coulsn''t help me with (or didn''t want to help). They wanted to sell me an upgrade! To LG''s credit, I called them and they fixed it with me over the phone in 2 minutes! Now I am still having the screen problem!! (this LCD blows). I have also had all the other problems mentioned here (icon''s not going away, lcd inverted colors etc.) My friend got a Seimens, and hasn''t had any of the problems I have been having. Stay away from this one if you can, even if it is free! Oh yeah, Rogers service sux. Less

screen has broken twice

I love my phone when it is working. I have had to fix it twice...both times it was the screen failing to work.

Basic, Entry Level Cell Phone

We bought two. Both of them were replaced at least once. One was replaced twice due to display not working. Don't be fooled by freebies. Nothing is free.

my phone disintegrated in about a year

do not buy this phone!!do not sign up with cingular wireless

Total Crap!

This phone started dying on me right after my 1 year warranty period expired. Drops calls, I dial calls and can''t hear anything but the person on the other end can hear me. Dial the # a second time and it hangs up. Have to dial each number THREE times just to get connected. Screen goes all screwy or blank and then phone doesn''t work. Have to turn it on and off TEN times just to get the screen (and hence, the phone) to work. IT SUCKS. My friend has the same phone with the same problem, and Rogers Wireless admits the phone is faulty but won''t service it. You have to buy another phone and extend your contract 2-3 years!!!! Less

A Piece of Garbage!!!

I got fooled by this phone''s slim and compact feature. Other than that, it''s a piece of garbage. I got fooled by this phone''s slim and compact feature. Other than that, it''s a piece of garbage. Poor connection and reception, displays the new message icon when there isn''t any new messages, low volume, Manufacturer (LG) has poor integrity, etc - one word to describe its performance ''HORRIBLE''. Just recently, it broke down on me after having the phone for like 6 months..i can dial out and the person on the other end can hear me but I can''t hear anything. So send it to Rogers and they send it to LG to get it fix and now LG returns after a month and a half later and tells me that its not cover by my warranty b/c it has water damage!! What a lie! I have never placed my phone near any water. Ironically, when I went to pick it up from Rogers, they can''t distinguish btw my LG 4010 and another LG 4010 that was also sent in for repair b/c it also has water damaage!! Now tell me, is that now an obivious scam or what??? What are the odds that both LG 4010s being send to the same Rogers Wireless Store both have water damage??? I think LG is just backing out on their warranty promise - b/c they can''t fix it and hence, don''t want to reimburse their customers for it. Trust me, don''t ever buy from LG - you will get RIPPED OFF!!! I''m disappointed by Rogers'' services as well. If Rogers generally care about their customer, they will see that this is a scam and would offer their customer (who''s on a 3 year term) a new phone for free and try scam them to buy a new phone. What can I say, some places have exceptional customer services and know how to treat their customers and then there are some firms like Rogers, who''s main concern is to earn money in the SHORT RUN. Well Rogers, you can forget about my business after my contract is up! Less
