A heavy duty smartphone that may rival HTC’s dominant offerings

LG did a wonderful job in disassociating itself from the sour after taste that left us with the LG INCITE. They’ve clearly reworked their designs and managed to produce a worthy Windows Mobile smartphone that will aim to please a wide range of users with its impressive lists of features. Not only does the S-Class interface make its US debut on the eXpo, but it adds a lot of visual flare that we haven’t seen stateside to make it a refreshing option for users consistently seeing either TouchFLO 3D or TouchWiz dominating the scene. Finally, the implementation of the pico projector opens up a plethora of implications that can cater to a whole new list of needs. The X in eXpo marks the spot where LG clearly differentiates itself in being a prominent figure in the Windows Mobile landscape.

It has a decent nice feature set

from HowardChui

I felt the IQ was better on paper than it was in person. That said on paper it brings a lot to the table.

In the end the IQ does have it’s problems. First and foremost it has questionable RF performance. It has a confusing menu system (though you can always disable it,  and no 3.5mm headphone jack. Despite these flaws as far as WinMo phones go the IQ wasn’t bad. I’m sure the USB connectivity problem is just my unit....

As far as WinMo phones go the IQ isn’t a bad choice it has a decent nice feature set, fast processor, a nice keyboard, high resolution display a 5 megapixel camera, finger print reader (if that sort of thing floats your boat) and even a pretty nifty projector that fits on the back. Let’s not forget the multitask button.  Another thing to consider is that the IQ is currently $100 on a 3 year on TELUS. While I don’t think any phone is worth it on a 3 year contract the IQ is relatively speaking a good deal.

I called Telus and they said that we would have to send it in to LG to get it looked at. Telus said they only sold the phone and that we would have to pay for it to be shipped and fixed if need be. So totally unhappy with the lack of help and support by Telus and LG IQ is not easy to get ahold of or answers from. It looks as though they do not even sell this model any more. Good thing.. Less

I bought the LG IQ and have had nothing but trouble. It was purchased at telus and I have already had to change the battery because it was getting so hot that I burned myself. It took 4 months to get the battery. Now my phone is on the counter and it randomly calls long distance as it has tonight 12 times. It was not in any ones pocket or had anything on it. I am at my wits end with this phone also it does not ring when people are trying to call me. I missed over 30 calls that were for business. I wish LG could do something for me as Telus refuses to do anything to repair of change this phone Less

A terrible experience - LQ I-Queless

I had the phone for less than a week; after the first day I knew there were serious problems ahead when it wouldn't turn off without crashing. Not once. Sure, it had a lovely interface, a nice sliding QUERTY keyboard, Windows Mobile apps I liked... but when it crashed EVERY time I tried to turn it off or reboot, so badly that I had to pull the battery, there's problems. Just Google the LG IQ issues to list them. I really, really wanted to like this phone, as it had great potential. It's too bad the Windows interface killed it, literally. A little more polish and testing and it'd be a winner. I guess when it's $0 for a 1-year contract at Telus, there's something fishy going on... Returning the phone to Telus was a hassle, as other reviewers have noted. My being a 8-year loyal customer apparently meant little to them, which was rather revealing. I ended up wit ha $100 credit to be used towards another smartphone, whatever that is. It won't be anything by LG, which is a shame, as I own an LG LCD TV and just love it. Less

Hate this phone not user friendly

trying to change the XT9 keypad from qwerty to normal again like it has always been and this is an impossible task

My phone freezes all the time! it is getting irritating!

Good

I love this phone. I've had it for 7 months and it's working great. So many more features then my last phone (lg keybo)

Hey does you phone have any battery over heating problems cuz all the others say it over heats i think its the battery but im just wondering cuz i'm getting this phone this week.

LG IQ is a DUD

I had the same problems as Sharon did and telus gave me a hard time as well. I am on my fourth phone and it sucks. There is no technician that can help you with the phone because they don't know enough about it and when you call LG they don't know enough about it either because it is too new. I have...More

There is no technician that can help you with the phone because they don't know enough about it and when you call LG they don't know enough about it either because it is too new. I have to soft reset my phone numerous times to turn it on or off and it overheats as well. I also have the freezes and I have to take out the battery at times for it to turn off. If there is an emergency it takes forever to get into the phone to make a phone call and I lose text messages all the time. Less

LG IQ

I have had this phone for 6 months I have already had to send it in twice! The battery does over heat quite often, it almost burns my skin(true i txt alot!) and a very bulky phone conpared to the new ones!

LG IQ - Tried 3 duds!

Got the LG IQ from Telus and within 30 days we had tried 3 of these phones. Got the LG IQ from Telus and within 30 days we had tried 3 of these phones. Needless to say, Telus customer service can be just as much of a DUD as the phone because we were told a) we HAD to give the phone 3 tries before they would do anything, b) got told we HAD to pick another Telus phone if this one didn't work out, c) and that even within the 30 days and 3 phones later they would NOT cancel the contract. If we wanted out we had to pay the full cost. I don't think so!! The phone is a really nice looking/operational touch screen phone with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. All would have been okay if it didn't freeze up, not turn on or off properly, lose text messages, over-heat, etc. The biggest pain was either the battery over-heating, or the phone freezing up for no reason....repeatedly!! Less

what do you mean they said you had to give the phone 3 tries? you mean sending it in for repairs??
