Reviews summary

8.2/10AVG.
RATING
Based on 13 reviews

The LG Optimus Showtime offers the amenities of a smartphone without the need for a contract.

This prepaid phone offers mediocre specs: a 1GHz processor, 2GB of storage, 4.3” screen and comes with 4GB in the microSD slot. There are no notable expert reviews on this product, however many users are impressed with the overall quality and speed of the phone. According to many users, the UI of the phone is incredibly responsive as is the speed of the Wi-Fi network and processor.

While there are generally positive reviews from users on the Showtime, one drawback of the phone is its battery life. The LG page mentions it has just 6 hours of actual talk time. With various apps running in the background, the battery drains much faster.

Despite this, most users are happy with the quality and price of the phone.

The Good: Good processing speed, excellent phone coverage.

The Bad: Poor battery life.

I should've kept my flip phone.

This is my 1st smart phone & I read many reviews on phones b4 deciding on the Showtime which was $199 when I bought it 2 yrs ago. The Swipe feature is a joke. I just have to let calls go to voicemail & I call them back. Rotation has never worked on my phone. I didn't realize my phone was exceptionally slow until I took it into Walmart for help & the gal in Electronics asked if my phone as always this slow. She suggested with all the problems I was having with it, to send it in for a refurbishment but I was going on a trip & needed my phone. When I got back, my yr warranty was up so I'm stuck with this phone. My last phone was a Motorola Razr flip phone. Best phone I ever had. I wish I'd kept that phone. I do everything else on my tablet. Less

Had this phone for about 3 years now and have been very happy wih it. It has been the most reliable phone I have owned to date with the only real issue being the battery life and it gets a little sluggish from time to time but nothing that a reboot doesn't cure. As for the review complaining about swyping to answer I think that says way more about the user than the phone. Less

Started fast, now sluggish

The phone was $200 when I bought it and I felt I had a good deal. At this point it is running very, very slow. It takes a minute or more to pull up the phone, messaging or any other app. This makes using it for GPS difficult and terrible if you need to call someone in a hurry. I have already reset the phone back to factory and it did work better for a while, but clogged up quickly even though I kept only the essential apps on it. Time for a new phone soon, I guess. Less

Okay phone, but don't dial 911

I've had this phone for over a year, and it's been pretty bad lately. It takes forever for some of the things to load, especially the phone and text messaging. I cannot quickly communicate with people and it can take up to 45 seconds to a minute for the phone app to open and for me to get to the dial pad, which is awful if I needed it in an emergency. I really need to get a new one but unfortunately being a straight talk user the phone I want is like $400. (Samsung Galaxy SIII or IV). Less

Worst phone ever.

This phone is almost useless to me. The most basic thing is to be able to answer the phone when it rings. With the ridiculous "Swipe" feature I cannot answer the phone. I miss 9 out of 10 calls. I just now missed one after "swiping" 13 times. Calls go directly to voicemail. I have called LG several... More

I just now missed one after "swiping" 13 times. Calls go directly to voicemail. I have called LG several times and there is nothing they can do. This is a ridiculous feature...it does not work...and I am stuck with this phone. So my advice for anyone thinking about this phone...don't buy it. Less

This phone rocks

I've owned it for roughly 8 months or so. It is a pretty responsive phone and I love it. No problems at all.

This LG Optimus showtime has been everything i was looking for in an upgrade from a flip phone and at a price i could afford. I have thought many times of upgrading again to a samsung galaxy or even an I-phone, but there is just no need to. This phone does it all. I am very picky and look for the best deal for the best price with top performance and this phone did it all for me. This matched with the great price of straight talk along with the usage of verizon towers i have service just about anywhere i have been that others have. Less

Awesome phone. The price is great and cannot be surpassed in its performance by any other phone thus far.
