Phonedog

An ok phone

from Phonedog
Pro: ease of use Con: antenna strips easily Using experience: 2 years Well my v220 is 2yrs old and it took a lot of abuse over time and only recentley started to act up it is a relibile phone and i'll be kinda sad to get rid of it

Not a bad phone

I've had this phone for a whole 3 years now...and i just got a new one because my contract ran out. The phone came free, but it was new when i got the contract (2004). It is still working like new- nothing has broken yet, which i find pretty strange compared to all the other reviews I've read. Pros: I haven't lost connection before, but then again I don't migrate too far from Toronto. The speaker phone is great, the menus are easy to use, and the construction is pretty sturdy for a free phone. Cons: Wish the design was better, and the VGA camera isn't so great, even if it does have 4x zoom. The batteries seem to have a short life, but that's probably because mine should've been replaced last year. Less

Motorola v220 is a great phone for the price it cost

The phone is great it a 4x zoom camera, super great speakerphone.Very useful management software. I only wish it has a 2 mega pixel camera but it have less than that

Mine has been good

I went from an older Kyocera (5135), which I really thought was the perfect cell phone to this Motorola V220 which I have to admit I really didn't like at first, I think more because of switching from one provider to another rather than problems with the phone itself. The phone itself has been reliable in every way over the past couple of years, so it's hard to write anything bad about it. If anything I don't think the voice quality is quite as good as the Kyocera, and I really didn't want or need the camera feature, but they all seem to have it now. I seldom charge it so battery life is as good as any I've seen. All in all, a pretty good phone from what I've seen. Less

Poor Quality or Poor Customer Service

I have had the V220 for about 2 1/2 years, with Rogers and the service we have received is NOT to the quality I would expect when we pay almost $125/month for the service. After about 14 months I had noticed that the signal would fade driving around Calgary. We thought this to be weird because the other phones we have; a Samsung SGH-X426 or our Nokia stick phone, had great signal strengths. We inquired to Rogers tech dept. and they informed us that there is nothing they could do. I was to take the V220 to a service center because it was NOT under warranty anymore, I was to pay to have it fixed. This did not please me, having to pay to have a phone fixed that I have only had for over a year. So, I learned to live with it. About 6 months later the signal problem escalated to the point where, with the phone just sitting on the counter at home, it would loose signal. Again, we contacted Rogers tech dept. and they told us that they tried to reset something over the time space continuum but they reported it did NOT work. Again we were told to pay to have it fixed. NOT... About 2 months ago the camera feature just suddenly stopped working. Due to prior dealings with the TECHNICAL department at Rogers, I knew that I am screwed. Again learned to live without now. Now, in the past day, throughout the day, menus started to scramble, fade, lockup and now are totally unreadable. Took my latest stab at the tech dept. and have been informed that I have choices, ALL which will cost me, the guy that pays them $125/month for a phone that does NOT deliver the service. My choices? Buy new phone, which will extend my contract, not going to happen, have my phone flashed, which from what I can gather is to re-install the software on the phone, cost $20-30 and will have to pay even if this process does not fix the phone. Pay for a lower quality phone, that does not have all the features I require for $100 but this will not extend my contract. And lastly, do nothing use the phone as a blind, stupid phone and continue to pay for services I can not receive. Now, I ask you, "Poor Quality or Poor Service" or BOTH. Less

Pro: great features, awesome ringtones, Con: camera okay I was really impressed with the phone. It was very loud and seeing that I live in a noisy home it was very helpful.Only problem was when I first recieved it the phone wouldn't ring and I think it's because of the shipping. But I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

from Yahoo
Pro: nice features.kinda cute Con: breaks very easily me and my sister both went through like 2 of these phones each...the camera always stopped working...and sometimes you couldn't look at your past pictures w/o it freezing up...maybe it was just our bad luck..or maybe it was just a crappy phone. Who knows?
