Very reliable won't die

I have had this phone almost 10 years this coming Aug. Have bought new battery 2 years ago which I keep as a spare. I love this phone and am looking forward to many more years as I do not like these modern phones of today.

Pro: Durable, Reliable, Great Battery Life, Simple Con: Not as many features as an iPhone This is the first phone i have ever owned. I now have had it for just shy of SIX, yes that is SIX years. This is a long time for a cell phone. The reason I love it is because i'm not always that careful with my phone, dropped it countless times, even thrown it a few times, and it only has a few scratches on it. When i got the phone, i could get a good two weeks out of the battery with little usage. Now after six years, and a newly acquired texting addition, it lasts 2-3 days. This is the perfect phone if you're just a casual user, not for the person that wants to be able to use it as a level (iPhone) lol Less

It just wont die

I have had this model cell phone for about a year now. I'm not too tech-savvy and I love that this phone is simple to use. I get lost in all the complex menus and extra features on the fancier phones. Also this phone is very reliable. I have not had a problem getting a cell signal on this phone, even indoors. My husband always has the fancy model phones costing many times more and his various phones have not been as reliable as this model phone and he'd frequently have to go outside to get a signal and he would have bad reception on his phones. This model has excellent reception, as others have commented. The battery holds a charge for several days, even when I have forgotten to turn off the phone at night and left it on overnight. The battery recharges quickly too. We have t-Mobil service and are very happy with it, over other services we tried out. My GrandDad has a cell phone too and out of the various models he tried out, he found this one simplest and easiest to use. The only issue I had with this model is that there is no little area to attach a hand strap so I worry about dropping the phone and breaking it but this issue is easily solved by just getting a little case for a phone which has a strap for it. When the phone arrived it was broken and when she tried to return it she was given the run around. Finally, after much wrangling T-Mobile allowed her to return it and sent her a new one but deducted minutes from the prepaid card! The new phone is still having problems and not working properly. What a waste! Cheap phone and bad customer service. Less

This phone rings to let her know when the battery is low, how great is that!!!!!! Easy to answer, make a call, see the screen and the phone has weight so she feels like she holding a phone. The best, I can put minutes on the phone thru my computer, with prepaid you do not pay each month for a phone you do not use. This phone is really for when Mom loses electricity and when the weather gets bad. And the T-moblie service is GREAT.!!!!!!!! With prepaid you have the control. Less

The Nokia 6010 is what I chose for my Cingular (AT&T) prepaid service in 2005. I used it for about three months and then let it sit for 8 months. I already had a different phone under another company's contract plan. My 6010 had no problems holding a charge after being off of the charger for 8 months. I liked the reliability of the 6010 so much that I let my contract plan go. I don't use a cell phone much, so I like the $1/day of usage plus $0.10/minute prepaid plan that is good for one year with $100 prepayment. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my unused balance didn't vanish when I renewed at the end of the year. The per minute charge doesn't apply on weekends to calls with other customers of the company. The lack of roaming means that all calls are local, charged at the same dollar a day of usage plus ten cents per minute against the remaining balance. I think not paying extra for roaming is great. The clarity is absolutely excellent even while I'm traveling along the highway, and the call is to someone on the other side of the country. The only problem I've encountered is not with the phone but with Cingular/ATT. I've found their people in several of their stores to be totally clueless. It was as if they had been hired one minute before I walked in. They didn't know how to transfer my old number, how to activate a prepaid card, what the features of their plans were, and probably a few other things I've forgotten. They also didn't care how long they kept me waiting while they made personal calls and chatted amongst themselves. If you find a Cingular/ATT store like that, do what I had to do, find another company store where the people know their stuff and take customer service seriously. The know-nothings told me I could check my remaining balance by calling a number they gave me. Not true, that only works with their contract plans. Fortunately, a several months ago Cingular/ATT started sending the remaining balance to the phone's display after most calls. Less

The contacts list allows for 10 one-touch slot assignments (i.e. you can press one key and have the number dialed for you, instead of looking it up or doing that little scroll down thing that so many do as they search for a name), you can also search by starting to type the name as you entered it. You can also assign a certain number of voice commands. You have to pretty much say it as you did when you set the command. In a similar or the same tone and cadence. This phone is quite good, reliable and dependable phone that has worked well for me now for 3.5 years. I can't say I really have complaint at all. It depends on what you are looking for in a phone. Some people want their phones to do everything except walk the dog and take out the trash. I like a phone that works reliably. This phone does. Less
