For anyone who doesn't mind the slightly limited app and games selection, or doesn't need to fill their phone with apps, the Nokia Lumia 720 is a hands down winner. The battery life alone makes it worth your time to explore and the overall experience is excellent. The camera performs well enough for the money and the lack of a HD display doesn't really hurt the experience. However if you plan on anything more than casual gaming, want the fastest possible Windows Phone experience, or to feel unlimited by your device, the Lumia 720 may represent too many compromises.

Great smartphone with a strong set of features

We were delighted to see a microSD slot on the Lumia 720 which makes this handset a real option for media consumption on the go, with the large screen also making movie watching a piece of cake.

We really like the Nokia Lumia 720, it's a great all round smartphone and while it doesn't do enough for us to love it, we would seriously recommend it.

For less than 380 Euros you will get a well performing device with a awesome battery life and a great camera. You are almost not any slower than on a high-end device, the only real negative is the fact that you can’t play high-end games, which mid-range Android devices and the iPhone 4 can. Also the screen resolution is not the highest, but that is not an issue in any way because the screen is great even with only 480×800 pixels.

Phone Report v2.0

A quality smartphone without spending too much money

from Phone Report v2.0

The Nokia Lumia 720 fills the void in the Windows Phone 8 portfolio for customers looking for a good smartphone at an affordable price, together with decent features and up-to-date software.

The camera was the most disappointing feature if the customer is a photography enthusiast, but for most users, it will not make a difference.

The Nokia Lumia 720 is a really attractive proposition. The phone checks all the right boxes, from great looks, to a camera that performs quite well, and hardware that handles pretty much everything you throw its way. Yes, Windows Phone still has a long way to go before it can begin to compete with Android and iOS, but unless you are someone who must have access to the latest apps, it will do the job for you, since most popular titles, barring a few high-profile exceptions (like Instagram) are already here.

The only downside is perhaps that the battery cannot be removed, and the screen though not a letdown, isn’t great either.

The Lumia 720 is a great smartphone, which supports and completes the Windows 8 experience, and is a strong Lumia series device. Although placed in between other devices, the Lumia 720 packs in features that are illustrative of its quality independent to other smartphones.

The Nokia can’t compete with the Nexus 4 on screen resolution or screen size, then, but it has better screen quality and battery life and a slightly superior camera. With both phones costing the same SIM-free and on contract, that gives the Nokia Lumia 720 the edge – it’s a phone worth switching from Android for.

A better camera, higher battery capacity and great build quality is what you get when you buy a Nokia Lumia 720. Is it perfect ? No, but it comes very close. For the average user the Nokia Lumia 720 will tick most checkboxes as it nails the essentials.

All is however not perfect considering the RAM limit on the handset. We also feel that the handset should have included a 720p screen. We can definitely recommend the Nokia Lumia 720 as a solid mid range offering particularly suited to beginner smartphone users.
