The Dual-SIM functionality is no doubt pretty handy to have around, and while performance isnt super fast, it’s not entirely terrible either. Decent enough for it’s price range, I’d say.

The Xperia E will most likely get the job done for first-time smartphone users

Bottom line, the Sony Xperia E is a reasonable package and if you do a lot of web browsing, the Jelly Bean's browser optimizations may be enough to convince you to fork out the cash. However, at this point it feels that the entry level market isn't the best place to be looking if you are into the Android platform.

Basically, because the onboard memory is partitioned as phone and internal memory, and very little will use the internal memory, no app from Sony, Google, no Facebook, Twitter and so forth, you rapidly run out of space on the phone memory, while having a gig + sitting doing nothing on the internal... Ok, the music player is well specced, but my cheapo, entry level LG III, at half the price, which I bought the Sony to replace, runs rings round it in every other department... I gave the Sony to my partner, who uses it as a phone, which it's quite good at, and as a BBC Radio iPlayer handset, and while iPlayer seems to be one of the few apps that transfer to internal memory, it seems to store downloads on the phone memory, or both! So problems there too... Taught me to be more questioning about the internal set up of a phone, but will avoid Sony in future... Less
