Specs / Features

The thinnest HR-equipped activity tracker from Garmin at 4mm thinner and more form fitting than vívosmart HR. While not in use, the discreet display disappears into the device so as not to overshadow your style. Measures VO2 Max, which is widely recognized as an excellent measure. Stress monitoring enables users to see periods of elevated stress or restful recovery. New strength training activity will count sets, reps, and rest times and will push them to Garmin Connect.

TechGearLab

A little on the pricey side, relative to its performance

from TechGearLab

The Vivosmart 3 fell decently short in our testing process overall, with there being many other options that are much better and less expensive for typical, day-to-day fitness tracking.

Although it's not so intuitive to navigate, the slim and comfortable Vivosmart 3 is a very good activity tracker that's waterproof and feature-packed.

Smarter, fitter, younger

from TechRadar

The Garmin Vivosmart 3 might not look like much but it's packed full of fitness tracking features, from rep counts to a fitness age. It's good value too, but more aimed at gym-goers than runners.

A fantastic mid-range fitness tracker for all

from TrustedReviews

A great mid-range fitness tracker that ticks all the boxes, with the added bonus of water-resistance and decent smartphone notifications too.

Ausdroid

Brings a few new innovations to the fitband space

from Ausdroid

It is one that I think stacks up well against the Fitbit Alta HR but in the end is overall not as polished. If the extra features on the Garmin are something that may interest you I would recommend at least checking it out before purchasing a new fitband.

The Vivosmart 3 doesn't feel as well thought out as past Garmin devices. The most thoughtful new feature in the device is rep counting, and I appreciate that Garmin developed it to be as accurate as it is. That alone sets it apart from most other devices priced at or around $150 and helps it undercut more expensive smartwatches that boast that feature as well.
