A great alternative to the traditional Google Home. It has better sound quality and is somewhat more versatile. The Bluetooth connection works quite well and opens the field to more devices that have nothing to do with our Google Account, such as friend's smartphones. Splashproof certified and your watch is perfect for the kitchen or bathroom, a great companion for singing in the shower or while you're cooking.

Novelty features don't redeem this expensive Google Assistant speaker

from Android Police

Unless you're really into the idea of gesture controls, I'd pretty much ignore the fact that this speaker has them. They don't work well enough to be a point worth considering. That leaves just a few remaining feature advantages over other speakers: the clock, the sound quality, and the IPX3 water resistance.

The 360 degree speaker with Google Assistant

from techAU

The Sony LF-S50G comparatively is a great speaker, while it won’t challenge the HomePod for outright sound quality (at half the price, that’s not surprising), for the size, weight and value on offer here, it should absolutely be on your short list.

The best Google Assistant speaker for your dollars

It is a very capable alarm clock – but then again, so is a Google Home or Home Mini, though you definitely get better sound quality from the Sony.

Sony’s smart speaker sounds better than a lot of the competition, but gesture controls need some fine-tuning.

A decent pick that's mostly worth its price

from Wired

Sony’s LF-S50G is a fine little speaker. It's just too bad that the digital clock display that gave me flashbacks to my old alarm clock comes with a side of poorly-executed gesture controls.

Google Assistant gets the sound it deserves

from Android Headlines

The Sony LF-S50G is a great looking speaker that just happens to have the Google Assistant built-in. It does streaming audio really well, not to mention the LF-S50G would look really good on a bookshelf in your living room or even on your desk at work. It’s hard to go wrong with the LF-S50G.

What Hi-Fi

Struggles to match its main rivals in the sound department

Looking at the Sony LF-S50G from a purely smart speaker perspective, there is a lot to like. Google Assistant is making big strides towards overtaking Alexa - in some ways, it's already doing so. However, with its promise of high-quality audio and a price tag to match, we can’t help but be disappointed in the LF-S50G’s sonic performance.

Sony’s answer to Google Home is a tough value proposition

from TechRadar

In isolation, the Sony LF-S50G is a very good smart speaker. It’s great at picking up voice commands, sounds good and features a handy LED clock. However, compared to the competition, the Sony is a poor value as other speakers in its price range outshine it. Your money should be spent elsewhere.
