What's good

  • Durable
  • Attractive design
  • Good screen

What's bad

  • Poor battery performance
  • Performance stuttering
  • Pre-installed software bloat

The Xperia Tablet Z features a more durable build than others with certifications for waterproofing as well as dust proofing while managing to keep a slim and sleek design similar to other Xperia’s. At 10.1 inches, this tablet has great entertainment value because of Sony’s exemplary Bravia Display technology and sound technology expertise.

Thanks to a quad core processor, it should be no slouch when it comes to performance, but all that power and Sony’s lack of software efficiency leaves it marred by hiccups and battery drain. According to GSM Arena’s tests, “the Tablet Z lasted a little over 7 hours, which is nearly two hours less than the Apple iPad mini.”

“The tablet's IP57 certification, lightweight and ultra-slim design, coupled with its entertainment and productivity services make it a compelling choice” says Alastair Stevenson of V3 UK. If you can deal with Sony’s un-optimized software and bloat, this tablet is worthy of your consideration.

Lightest, slimmest and water-resistant-est tablet on the market

from TechRadar
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a triumph, a tablet that genuinely deserves consideration when you're in the market for a new top-end gadget. If you're against the iPad for any reason, or even just agnostic over your OS, the Sony has taken the best of Android and fused it with its own innovation to make a device that delights in more ways than we can count... Despite its generous display real estate, it’s still very lightweight and easy to travel with

from Chip Chick
Overall, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a very media centric tablet, but thanks to its petite form factor, it can still handle the riggers of traveling too. And this is one tablet that not only sets itself out from the pack, but it feels just at home in the kitchen, as it does in your living room, or in your suitcase... Full review

Slick design and useful features make the Tablet Z Sony’s best yet

from Android Community
The Xperia Tablet Z is probably the best 10-inch Android tablet you can buy right now, if you can stomach the £400 starting price. Rivals like the Nexus 10 offer a higher-res screen for less cash, but Sony pushes ahead with water resistance, LTE connectivity, expandable storage and battery-extending software features. However with newer chips like NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 on the horizon, the Tablet Z could be quickly eclipsed in the months ahead... Full review

Thin, light, and ready for a rainstorm

from The Verge
Ultimately, the Tablet Z's raison d'être is two-fold: it can be a universal remote, and it can go (but not function) underwater. I don't know if that's worth $500, or even the $100 over some other great Android tablets. I used the Tablet Z a lot more than I've used most Android tablets — it's just so amenable to so many situations. It's thin, light, and rugged enough that I carried it everywhere with me, and from cooking to bathing I really like having a waterproof tablet. If you're looking to spend $500 on an Android tablet, the Xperia Tablet Z is the one to ge.. Full review

Good build quality and brilliant HD screen

from NDTV

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is an expensive offering from the Japanese electronics giant. The tablet packs in a large number of features, a unique design and high-end specifications, but recommending it over the latest generation iPad (3G+WiFi) that costs a similar amount, is a bit difficult. The Apple iPad still offers access to a more evolved ecosystem when it comes to tablet optimised apps and content. Though you'll get access to Google's Movies and Books stores with the Xperia Tablet Z, the iTunes Store is a step ahead as it also offers a large collection of music titles at attractive pric... It's completely worth the price tag

from IntoMobile
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a home run in my book. It takes a lot for me to personally be interested in 10 inch tablets, as I've always preferred 7 inch devices. This tablet is the exception for me.The Xperia Tablet Z oozes style and a beautiful design without needing to be in your face. This approach could have been a disaster, as the tablet could have just been another slab, but it's not. The combination of power and sleekness make this one of the best Android tablets available on the market today... Full review

Decent performance despite the old operating system

from Reviewed

As far as tablets go, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z certainly hits the ideal talking points—light, thin, and somewhat child resistant, the Z makes a strong case for itself in an iPad-dominated market. If you often use your tablet as a means to share photos, videos, and other media, the Xperia Tablet Z is a very good bet among Android devices.

It's not without its faults—I'm still wary of just how thin it is—but by the numbers, this is one of the better Android tablets on the market, and it's a true media maven. I would caution consumers to be wary of the fact that it... Full review

It's fast, has a good screen and is very thin and light

from TrustedReviews
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a very good tablet - there's no doubting that. It's fast, has a good screen and is very thin and light. But it does no single thing appreciably better than its immediate rivals, and its unique features fall a little flat... Full review

Comprehensive user-experience in a sumptuously designed package

from Know Your Mobile
The Xperia Tablet Z is an impressive proposition - it has a design to turn heads, is light and thin, and offers commendable performance in the key areas. Despite a couple of foibles in terms of touch responsiveness and battery longevity, the Xperia Tablet Z offers a comprehensive user-experience in a sumptuously designed package. Did we mention it's waterproof too?.. Full review

Super slim Android tablet

from Android Central
Sony has made a very desirable tablet in the Xperia Tablet Z. We particularly like its striking svelte design and features that you don't get with rivals such as NFC, its waterproof casing and infrared. However, its slightly lacking performance means the Nexus 10 will save you some money or the iPad 4 will give you a smooth experience for the same price... Full review
